Hi All,

I have two Salmon Favs that are almost 6 weeks old. In the past few weeks I have noticed their feather coloring is starting to differ a bit. I'm wondering if they are different genders or if one is just faster to mature and slightly different coloring??? I got them from a local feed store, pullet run.

Toughnut - neck feathers and wing feathers are same shade of red/brown, head is almost all cream colored with a few feathers that have a darker speck on the feather tips. Smaller comb and not as many muff feathers.

Roughnut - Neck feathers are darker red than the wing feathers, this isn't totally clear in the pic. Feathers on back of head have red centers and cream edges. some red and darker feathers coming in on head. Some dark feathers along comb, comb is larger and lots of muff and beard feathers coming in...some darker.

This is Toothless (anyone spot the theme;) a Black sex link...which by feathers should be a pullet. But herwaddles are growing and red while none of my other breeds are...her legs and comb have always been much larger than the other chicks I got. She is not yet 6 wks.

Thank you!!!

Girlie girls, all of them. Male Faverolles have black body-feathers, they'd stand out like sore thumbs by now. Toothless is probably just an early devloper. It's not common, but it can happen.

Thank you!!!! It's hard not to overanalyze every little feature as it develops!!! And Toothless has always developed strange. her feathers came in SUPER late....she was part bald, her fuzz had spread out so much!! Then the feathers just stuck out a tiny bit and stopped....for days....she just now looks normal;)

Thanks again!
