Salmon Faverolles

Last spring I got 4 salmon Faverolles.. 3 of the 4 FEMALE Faverolles decided to start crowing

I'm not allowed to have roosters where I live or it wouldn't be a problem. I was wondering if this is common with the breed? They also seem to be way more vocal then all my other hens.

yes its common for them to be very vocal, my salmon faverolles where very vocal compared to most of the other chickens i have had

Darn.. I really love the breed but I can't have a crowing hen. The bigger one in the picture is so sweet. She loves to cuddle in my lap. Is there a way to stop a hen from crowing? Not using a crow coller but maybe seperating them for a while or something?

I've had a few crowers, but mine usually only did it occasionally. How vocal are yours?

You could talk to your neighbours and ask how they feel about this?

They are mostly vocal between 7 am -10 am and then they quiet down. One of them will crow continuously until I pick her up.

One of my neighbor's is not very friendly unfortunately.

Are you SURE that it's crowing or is it just vocal?

Those are females. It is extremely rare to have a single hen crow let alone 3.

Hens sing an egg song when they lay. Often they will practice that song before ever laying.

Yes, I'm 100% positive it is crowing. In fact the only reason I'm asking if its common for the breed is because I was shocked 3 of them starting crowing. They started about a month apart.

Mine all like to sing the egg song together lol.

Do your ordinances specify "no roosters" or "no crowing birds"?
