Generally how old are they when they get all their adult coloring in? The roos have wonderful beards and muffs but they don't look like an adult yet they are only about 4 mos old now and huge, the girls have abit of grey in them yet, I only have 1 that i really like. We got some others from sandhill, very disappointed w/ the quality there, most the roos have some deformity or no muff/beards. a couple pullets are ok but they are very dk in color not the buff you usually see. The 4mos old I hatched out myself from some eggs off here. I will try to get some pics sometime here,

Ugly face( i know mean name) follows me around all the time-trying not to get too attached to him but he may just end up in a bachelor pen

Anywhere from eight months to a year old would give you the best indication on Their coloration. Sandhill do not have the best coloration of Salmon Favs. Best bet is to look for breeders.

Yikes! And I was thinking of ordering some salmon faverolles from Sand Hill next year. I think I'll look elsewhere.

Can anyone recommend a breeder in eastern MA, southern NH or southern/central ME?

Cindy in MA

My friend and I ordered the Salmon Favs and Mahogany Favs and it was the second order we had for those and it was the LAST we will order their Favs...it was horrible! They were weak from the start and it was a struggle to keep them alive for two months! After my friend got them home, alot of them died and so did mine. Horrible colors and it was not correct either. Some didnt have any fifth toes either.

I would buy certain breeds from Sandhill but FAvs are not one of those I would buy. Their Polish are pretty but too many cross beaks and crooked toes...may be their incubation problems.

Could you please post pics of the ideal looking salmon favorelles? One of the girls from the eggs I had hatched out doesn't have much black at all but I don't think she is in the pics. I am going to go to the poultry show in WI in oct maybe I can pick up a nice hen. I only can have so many birds to work with as this flock is maintained in town and we are only suppose to have 25 birds.

but we have many more. I want to concentrate on the favorelles, and my boss who co owns the birds can do the chanteclers. the Jersey giants can just be:)
