This is my friend’s salmon favorelles chick. It’s a little over 2 weeks old. I have one the same age, from the same Hatchery, and it looks different. This one has shorter, darker wings and no tail feathers yet. Is it a boy?

Here is a pic of mine from Monday - so almost a week ago now. Obviously more feathers than this by now.

All I can say is mine that ended up being a rooster had that exact wing coloring, even that early 😅
Yeah that’s kinda what I’m thinking. I don’t have the heart to tell her that her Dolly might be a Dale.

Some Faverolles that are hatchery quality (like mine) might have some off standard coloring in the wings, face but I’ve found that any black that shows on the chest or shoulders is a male. The wings here make me lean cockerel but the tell-tale sign will be the chest. Here’s mine at close to four weeks when it became very apparent.

Cutie nonetheless!

The lack of any tail feathers is another thing making me think cockerel. I know that’s not always an indicator, but in this case just another hint pointing boy.

My salmon favorelles is starting to darken on the wings and now I’m questioning if it’s a pullet or cockerel. (S)he is 3ish weeks now. Help!

My gal had slightly darker feathers than a pure breed but never black feathering in the shoulders or chest. It’s hard to see in the picture, is there black coming in on the chest?

There does seem to be one darker feather but mostly white
