So my rooster Sam is a salmon favorelle. He is really struggling growing his feathers out he is missing most of his butt feathers and has the entirety of the time he’s been an adult rooster but now his beard is very very sparse. I kept thinking that with time and adequate nutrients they would grow in but they just haven’t. There will be pictures posted below. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Are there any other Roos? It's very possible he's getting "plucked". I do see pin feathers so regrowth is there. It's possible also that his muff is getting picked at due to feed or stuff getting caught in it, other chickens will "help" him remove it.

Has he been checked for parasites; mites/lice?
No other Roos he’s the only boy in a big run with 9 hens. I haven’t checked him for parasites/mites/lice. What’s the best way to do this? I really don’t have a chicken vet close to me

Look between his feathers (base), if you see any thing crawling or attached to his feathers (shaft). You can also run your bare hands along the roost, if you feel things crawling on your arm, it's mites.

Since he's the only one with the missing feathers, I'm thinking the hens maybe pecking at him. Being that his skin is so "red", that color does attract "pecking". If you can get some Blu-Kote, spray the area it should discourage anyone pecking that area.

Keep us posted.
