I am new as of yesterday. I did not have any idea how many posts would be added over night. Now the posts that I was reading are buried. I was searching for help with a pecking problem that Just started and came across two helpful posts and now I can not find them even with a search.
Do any of you have the rx for the salt water? Someone said that in a 1924 study salt water help stop pecking. You add salt to the water in the am, replace with fresh at noon, and repeat three days later...but what is the salt to water ratio?
If anyone can help I would surely appreciate it, and I promise to print these things out from now on.

I read that once, however, salt is generally bad for chickens. I wouldn't do that for long. (though I know that in hot weather, electrolytes are given sometimes) Finding the reason for the pecking would be the best thing. Are they crowded? Do they have the level of protein that they need? I see many pecking issues that are the result of too little protein, a need they are trying to fill.
