I've been lurking in the forums for the past couple months. Chickens are finally legal where I live so I was finally able to convince my husband and we brought home our first 2 in February. I immediatly found BYC and have been learning so much especially about coop building. Ours will finally be done this weekend so my 2 big girls will be moving outside. We also got 2 new babies nearly 2 weeks ago. We're allowed 6 total so I'm on the hunt for silkies. My husband isn't into the chicks the way I am but he's being a good sport. Every night he listens and rolls his chair over to see pics of coops or unique chickens. He'll always see the signature lines where people list their pets/family info. Last night he commented, "oh my god, these people came off the same mothership you did". LOL

Wife to Tristan for 16 years. Mom to my human kids ages 14 and 11. Before long your DH will be an enabler just like mine.

I have a broody and he said go ahead and hatch so she has 5 eggs from my girls under her. They will be barnyard mixes but can't wait to see what I get.

Welcome to the great addiction called chickens.

My husband is the same. He's not quite into chickens...yet.
I originally started just wanting 3 laying hens. When I was (literally) on the phone placing my order for 1 Barred Rock, 1 Partridge Rock and 1 Golden Buff he pips up and says, just go ahead and get two of each. That very weekend we went to a feed store to buy supplies to set up the brooder and came home with 5 chicks (3 Rhode Island Red and 2 Barred Rocks).

So from 3 to 11. Chicken math works fast!

How wonderful your hubby has a sense of humor about it! (he's gonna need it once the chicken math gets a good toehold!)
