New here on BYC, living in North San Diego County. Looking for information on what to do with my new flock. Went with a flock of 6 1 day old chicks (2 Americana, 2 Buff Orpington, 1 Barred rock & 1 Blue Andalusian). We were looking for quiet, friendly, colorful egg layers.

! Great to have you aboard! I think you have selected some nice and diverse breeds! I think you can find some valuable information in the Learning Center here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
The Raising Baby Chicks section in the Learning Center will be helpful to you at this stage of the game.
And, if you'd like to chat with some of your poultry owning neighbors, find the CA thread in this link and say howdy: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

Welcome!

As redsoxs has already given you some great starting points, I will just wish you and your little ones all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
