Sand in the coop and run... How Much??

Hi yall. We are just completing our chicken coop and run. The coop is a "remodeled" 8x7 shed and the run is 8x10. We would like to use construction sand in the coop and part of the run.

For those who use sand... How much did you need to buy? Would 1 cubic yard be enough? I have no clue! Thanks

If you live in hot climate, the sand would be ok. I am not suggest the sand if you live in wet climate. It only last about 4 years for me. Here is a photo.
