I never herd of sand before on the coop floors until now....Do you peeps mean that instead of shavings or straw?I could see how sand would be so much easier to keep clean..How does sand work in colder climates? If so..I would put straw in the nesting boxes and sand on the floor....Can anyone post pic's or chime in with your knowledge...Thanks.

Sand is generally used for outside runs and pine shavings or straw are used inside coop. That is because most coops have wooden floors. If you had a dirt floor or concrete floor coop then sand might work just fine in both places. (Just not as warm on their feet in winter.)
