Sand

If you do choose to use sand inside your chicken coop. and run, get the course concrete grade sand. Available where building supplies are sold. Also check with Redimix concrete companies, and ask if they will sell sand. There you would buy in bulk, or by barrel, or bucket. That is what I have in portion of my run, for dust-bathing, and scratching at will.
There has been much discussion on using sand in coops. Most peeps stay away from play sand sold in Homecenters. I still do not see the clear reason, since children are OK to play in it, but chickens NO. It has something to do with silica, an ingredient of most sand. The course grade is supposed to be less dusty, and less likely to injure chickens lungs.
If you can find river sand, that would be probably the most ideal. Should be low in dust, when dry.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome
