I have closed off the walls for the coop and I am now framing out the run. I was thinking of just using construction sand for the run but that seems like just giving them a barren desert to live in. Has anyone mixed their native soil and sand together to get the benefit of both? I’m open to other suggestions as well. Thanks

To eliminate mud and odor, go with wood chippings.
My runs have semi-deep litter(cold composting), never clean anything out, just add smaller dry materials on occasion, add larger wood chippings as needed.
Aged ramial wood chippings are best IMO.
