Sandbox in the Brooder

Tonight I added a little sandbox to the brooder for some entertainment. I figured at two and three weeks it would add a little somethin' somethin' to their day. They are having more fun digging in the sand. Hope this is not a bad idea???

Yes it does. Landscaping sand is dustier and can be harder on the bird's lungs.

Landscape sand has silica dust in it... that is what causes the issues.
I use play sand or just get dirt from outside (where no other chickens roam, so there is no cross contamination)

Just get dirt from outside...actually better if near where adult flock is, helps start building immunities.
