I just got some great info from the members here regarding sand in the coop. What about sand for the sandbox. For the chickens to play in. I’ve read that the sand should also be rough not fine playground sand. Is that correct?

I would think the best use of a sandbox for chickens would be as a dust bath. IMO, that requires finer particles. The reason is that the chickens need to be able to get that dust into their feathers down to their skin. Along with fine sand, other things to include are dry soil, wood ashes (not from a barbecue), and agricultural lime.
