Sandpaper in the coop

Well it's not too steep. I don't know that I'd worry too much about them slipping a bit as long as they can get up and down it OK.
Once its pooped up a bit, that'll add some texture ;)

You could go the thick paint route if you feel it's absolutely necessary...or add another cleat between each of the existing ones.

How old are the chooks and how long have you had them?

Might just be a matter of them getting used to the environment and you observing their behavior to see if it's real problem.

I've just gotten my first flock and they were slipping a bit on their ramps too, but they can still navigate them just fine when needed.

I got them at 2weeks old in February. They just moved into their larger coop, so maybe they just haven't had time to adjust. I was just worried that maybe we had not constructed the ramp properly after watching them slip and slide.

I'd just give them some time, they'll figure it out.

Nice coop BTW.

Looks like you have put some kind of finish on all the wood...is it a bit slick maybe?
Using some sandpaper to rough up the slickness might help.

Thanks! The wood was finished with a sanding sealer. I think, for now, I'll observe them for a while and see if it gets any better as they get used to their new environment. I really appreciate everybody's help and suggestions.

The sanding sealer is the issue. It makes the surface slick. It is easier to keep clean but like hardwood floors with socks on, it is not the easiest to get around on :) I would either rough up the surface with some 100 grit sand paper or apply something like OScarlet mentioned earlier. The ramp is definitely not steep which is a plus. That coop is nicer inside that some homes :) WOW!
