I rescued a chicken from a neighbours garden who had moved house and left the chicken behind. I am very new to this. We called teh chicken Babs. She is a special breed, fluffy legs and head etc. We are intending to buy her a few friends of the same breed.
I found Backyard Chicken via the internet and found it really helpful with a problem we had with Babs in that she would not leave the chicken house. After getting adviced from BYC we found she was broody and took advice from you and all is now ok.
We also have 2 dwarf rabbits, a cocker spaniel, and a fish. The dog is very friendly with both the rabbits and the chicken and poses no threat to either. My husband and I both live in Belgium. I am Englsih and Patrick is a Belgian. We have 4 grown children between us and 8 grandchildren who love our pets. Thanks for your advice so far regarding Babs.

Hi :welcome Sandra

Glad you could join us here! That's so very kind of you to take Babs in and give her a home. I'm sure she would appreciate some company as they do so much better with a few pals. Pork pie has left you some super links to check out and I'm sure you will find them most helpful.

Good luck with Babs and with adding more to her. Enjoy your time here on BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Welcome! You already have a lot to look up!

Babs needs a friend or two

Yes, Babs will feel more at home with a few other chickens, because they are such social creatures. I am happy to know that you stepped in and adopted her. Congrats! I'm sure she will be a joy in your life.
