Heya all -

I bought a dozen eggs (large cochin) from sandspoultry, and I just wanted to let you all know they did good. Only 3 hatched out of 14 shipped (packed wonderfully, btw) but it wasn't the egg's or Sandspoultry's fault - either the PO or My own.

Most of them developed to a certain point (looked ready to hatch), then stopped. It was my first time hatching, so I assume it was mostly me. One died in the shell because the humidity dropped while it was hatching, and I was in bed sleeping, not watching the bator.

They are beautiful babies - two are colored like deer - sort of reddish tan/brown, and one looks like it is black with some blue in there - might turn out to be a blue once it is done changing.

I'll buy from them again - just maybe not til next spring

Not sure what color birds they have, but if it has any blue in it it is probably a blue!

We all have hatches like that. The ones that didn't hach were not ment to.

Yeah. I had major problems with humidity. I bought a room humidifier for the next time to try to keep the humidty in the room a little higher.

And yes on the blue/black/splash. I have several of them.

I'll be wanting more of them, but maybe I'll wait til spring on those. It sure turned cold. I did order some buff orp eggs the other day, but I won't be surprized if they get cold in the PO.
