Hi friends! I inherited 4 chickens about 5 months ago from my niece. One Americana, one silky and 2 little Banties. My hubby and I love having them in the yard and really love the eggs. A friend recently gave us 3 fertilized eggs (we hope) . So I have been reading on this forum about setting hens. It's been very informative. Thanks for allowing me to join!

Silkies usually make great setters (broody hens) but, they go broody only when they feel like it.

One of the Banties started sitting about 4 days befor I got the fertilized eggs, and now the Americana has decided she should hatch a few also. But I don't want more than the possible 3. And the down side to have it 2 hens nesting is theloss of egg laying for 3 weeks. On the up side I am thinking there will be 2 mamas to protect the babies. Am I on the right track?
