Does anyone have an opinion on using the egg wash wipes on the eggs before I put them in the incubator. The eggs I have just recieved have a little more goodness on them than I want in the incubator. Or at least I'm comfortable with. The wipes are made of all natural ingredients. Anyone?

This is for hatching chickens but I would think the care of the eggs whether chicken ducks goose etc would still apply

I know nothing about hatching eggs seems the article says not to wash eggs. But look at it this way ducks chickens etc don't wash their eggs while hatching, and the eggs prob get dirtier by the day. :)

All natural or not, don't do it. I agree with Amiga, the bator itself should be sterile, but you should never sterilize an egg. It has a protective bacterial bloom from the moment it's laid, and any attempts to scrub or wash it could push the bugs through the porous shell, which could kill the embryo. If it's covered in poop then you can gently wipe off the excess, but that's about it.

If they have some extra ick on them, maybe use a brush and lightly brush off some extra before placing in the bator.

I always very gently clean off any feces before putting into the incubator, otherwise you're just asking for trouble with bacteria and such contaminating the egg during incubation.

Alrighty.. I appreciate the input. I did clean some excess off. And we are moving forward. Fingers crossed. Thanks all. I appreciate the input
