Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit about satin silkies vs smooth silkies? Are they the same thing? Are they just a cross between a regular feathered chicken and a silkie resulting in smooth feathers?
We have 3 chicks where one has regular silkie feathers and the other two have smooth feathers. I’m also wondering if anyone has any guesses based on feather pattern/ colour as to what they may have been crossed with? Thank you!

Satins are not silkies. They are a separate breed and are part Cochin/part Silkie. Yours look way too young to sex. Update pics in another 1-2 months and maybe I can tell. ;)
Apparently our little ‘satins’ are silkie cross with d’uccle. They have hock feathers and mottled colouring. They are beautiful, but I have no idea what they will look like fully feathered.
