Sav-A-Chick contains: Yellow 6 & Red 40 Dye

Are there any electrolyte packets for sale that don’t contains these food dyes? Or any recipes you recommend? Today is day 21 of our first hatchlings.

I have used a bit of molasses as a substitute in the past.

Here is what @Eggcessive recommends:

“The one I like is 1 quart of water, 1 tsp of sugar, a pinch of salt, and (optional) 1 tiny pinch of salt substitute.”

Perdue FlockLeader has some water additives. Some have electrolytes. I'm not seeing dyes on the ingredient list.

I used "Arrive" for chicks, and the water was clear. A little annoying to mix without clumping.

Grubbly has one without color. I personally don’t mind the dye, as it helps ensure even mixing.

Since you’re hatching at home (and the chicks aren’t getting shipped), you really shouldn’t need it. Congrats on the new littles! Hope you’ll post pics!
