Save a dog. Get fired

My puppy is my child, so to me they are one in the same. If I saw a baby in a car I would break out a window to get him/her out if it was 90 degrees. The 'owner' would have a field day dealing with me - probably worse than the cops

That's a really stupid answer from management.  Just be sneaky about it.  Some people are stupid.

If you knew the managers at my job you wouldn't be so surprised.. What shocks me even more is they all have at least 2 dogs each so it's not like they aren't dog ppl. I could never imagine leaving my babies out in a hot car like that.

I have owned dogs, but not overly a dog fan but I always wonder why people put dogs in their cars for unless it's to take them to a vet/groomer or like appointment. I understand people love their pets but there is a time and a place for everything. I lone a great pizza but I won't carry a pizza and 2 liter of soda into a church service and use the alter as a table while sitting in the front pew listening to the service.

If you don't like dogs then you aren't going to get this but we take our dogs to dog parks and to Lowes and Tractor Supply and Petsmart for socialization. You don't want a 170lb dog who isn't safe around people and other dogs. Socializing them keeps them more accepting and comfortable in non-standard situations. Plus people who like dogs come up and want to pet them...it is fun and you get to meet like minded people. in Europe they allow dogs on public transit and people take them with them on vacation. dogs are like kids to some people.

And sometimes we just take them with us for fun down to the downtown mall where they have outdoor restaurants. the Restaurants bring out dog bowls of water for them. They love to come with us! But I'd never leave them in a hot car. That's just friggin dangerous. Heck people ask us if our dogs are allowed in the house and I always reply that they would never survive in the summer here without the airconditioning... it would be cruel. (I just have to clean the house alot.)

I totally agree with you all. It makes me so mad when I see this.

I do want to say though, that some people are a little over zealous about leaving dogs in cars
It has been foggy here in the morning, (in the 50's in the mornings) We ran in to get coffee at Peets, and were gone less than 10 minutes. We did not leave our windows down because my little chihuahua shakes if it is the least bit chilly. We came back to a note that said "Dogs need air too" stuck to the window. I was a little miffed, as it was foggy and chilly out, and not the least bit hot.

And here is where we would disagree. we let our dogs in bed with us. so you can see that we view them differently.

& it's more about the type of dog we have...meant for cold weather with a double coat. it would be cruel to make them stay outside in 100 degree weather with 90% humidity in my opinion. heck, I don't even want to be out there in that.

Great posts, y'all. My puppy gets mad if I get the truck and don't take him with me. He loves to stick his cute little face out the window and gets alot of waves from passerby's. Yes sometimes he jumps in the bed with me, which I hear is bad for training purposes. This may sound like a catch 22 but the little guy never gets more than 10 feet from me. I got him to keep the foxes away from my flock
