Saved by the garbage men

We took our dog out for a walk today and noticed something was going on with the garbage men. In the back of their truck were an injured cat and a bag filled with dead chickens…. but wait one of the hens was very much alive… who throws a cat and a chicken in the garbage! The cat was very scared and ran away but the chicken had nowhere to go stuck in the bag among her dead friends. How long was she in the garbage? A few minutes? Hours? Over a day? If the garbage men had not noticed in time, they would have been crushed! We took the poor hen to our vet and she’s spending the night there. We cannot wait for news tomorrow. If she turns out to be okay, how long should we wait before we introduce her to the others? We are scared she could be carrying a disease or something. Poor little thing....

oh my gosh! How sad and awful, hope the cats gunna be ok too!
I don't know what the suggested time would be but i do definitely suggest at least 1-2 days quarantine from your others, to be sure nothing can get passed along like you mentioned. After that period if she seems to be in OK health i would place her (still in a solitary pen/cage) where she can be interacted with the rest of the flock through the pen, for another 2 or so days to be sure she will be introduced to the flock without any hostility. I have to do that for anything new i bring into the flock because I seem to only get ruthless hens lol.

we notified the police and the M.A.P.A.Q. ( the garbage men crushes the content of their truck between each house so it was very easy to figure out who did this). It is illegal here (and probably everywhere else) to throw away live animals in the garbage. We hope actions we be taken againts them...
