Hi all. I am new here! I’m very excited to join this forum.

A duck that made her nest in our mulch bed hasn’t shown up in days. We haven’t seen her in our home security cameras in four days. We took the eggs in, bought an incubator from someone on social media, and we are now trying to hatch them ourselves. I have never done this before and I felt bad leaving the eggs without at least trying to save them. I have NO experience but I’m learning. My candler came in today and I used it. I don’t really know how old the eggs are, maybe two weeks? I don’t even know if they’re alive. I’ll attach some pictures to see what you guys think.

These are egg 1.

Egg 6. (This one looks completely different than the other ones, I’m guessing this one is dead).

First of all, welcome to BYC! Awesome job trying to save them. Unfortunately, I think it may have been to late. Do you see any veins or movement in any of them? Sit there and hold them really still in a dark room, and just watch. Do it with each one. I actually think #6 is the only one that might still have a chance.

I'd agree. The rest look like quitters. #6 is the only one that looks relatively like it may be still alive and filling up the eggshell.

x2 on looking for veins and movement

thank you so much for your response. I’m super sad 😢. I’ll candle them again tonight and really watch for movement. If not, I’ll discard them and just keep egg #6.
