Saw a wild Bobwhite in the driveway this morning!

One of my male bobs escapes two weeks ago. He roams around the property and calls my other bobs to come join him. He will literally prance around the quail building and tease me!

Neat. They were extremely common here in the NW outer burbs of Detroit back in the 1960s and 1970s. Had coveys of them come and hang out under the bird feeders all the time. In the 1980s, we had rampant development, and I guess that in part helped to decimate the populations, along with other factors like feral cats, weather, changing farming practices and crops, pesticides, and diseases from domestic poultry.

Anyway, I would love to see them come back. Such cheery little birds.
