I live close to a guy who has a portable sawmill. He has tons of sawdust that he would be glad to give me. Would this be acceptable as brooder litter? Also how bout as a floor covering in my coop?

It should work, as long as it isn't cedar dust. The only draw back that I know of is that sawdust will start to compost, and it can be very stinky when you go to dig it out. I have found that sand works better for me. Bur free is a very good deal.

lol. My boyfriend's dad also has a portable sawmill in their yard and my boyfriend saws pine logs. I use the sawdust and haven't had a problem.
