I have certainly seen birds that are not that good at shows. So I'd give them a go. Showing can be a lot of fun and a great way to learn.
It is a bit hard to tell what is going on with the drake's eye. Any chance of a clearer pic?
Here is a pic of a nice (bantam) Saxony drake that I took at the recent National Poultry Show here (Australia). He has a blue hood that is solid coloured (no white lines anywhere) and his claret breast ends in a nice clean line under his chest (not running back under his belly or too far over his shoulders). His colouring is great - clean and neat - and is something to aim for
I will see if we can get a better one tomorrow night. The bottom 'eyelid' area seems to be a little droopy so I was worried about it. Thanks for the pic that helps my son know the coloring as well we were not sure and the American Standards book we have doesn't have a picture of the saxony's just a little description.
Here is the eye pic. But now we have a hen that has an old toe injury she has her nail yet but where it connects to her toe is swollen a bit. So I'm thinking he will get docked points because of it?
