I have hatched...well, technically, still hatching ;) some saxony ducklings from eggs purchased off eBay. I have 3 that are all cute and fluffy in the brooder. Of those 3, one is lighter in color with more grey. Could this be an indicator of gender?

What gorgeous babies Congrats!! I tried to look it up and never saw where color determines sex so either vent sexing and if you wanted to go that route Metzers has a vent sexing link on line, or waiting till they are old enough and go by voice which is usually around 12 weeks old I believe i have Muscovy so you can't use the voice to sex. You might want to go to the search at top of page and type in Saxony there you may find a thread that will help.

Thanks! I think I'll pass on the vent sexing...these babies are pure hobby, so there is no NEED to know right now

There are actually 8 little ducklings there in my lap...the 2 bigger ones were from a batch that hatched last weekend. They were my "practice" duck eggs--they are from a lady that lives near me...she has a mixed flock of Peking, Muscovy, layer 300, and maybe something else, I can't remember what all she said she had. She was actually giving the eggs to my son (8) for his biscuit baking! Haha. I asked her if they were fertile and she said "probably, and they have been sitting on the counter since they were collected". I thought what the heck, I'd give incubating duck eggs a go :)

What a wonderful, incredible blessing! I bet you're really glad now that they weren't used to make biscuits!
