There are penciled and emery penciled...2 different colours. You might want to Google both types. I think you have emery penciled.

Thanks for the info. I didnt know that there was two different types of penciled runners. I really wouldnt care if they were mutt ducks though. Theyve got a spot here on my little farm regardless.

Hi JustHatched. I had a question for you. I just got into raising ducks. I bought 5 to start with because I already have plenty of chickens to take care. I was told 3 were pekins and 2 rouens. 2 of the pekins look how they should but one has dark down on his rear and a dark stripe starting to develop and his wings. Also, his bill is starting to turn dark. I cannot figure out what breed it is. Thought you could help. They look similar to this yellow and black runners you have. Forgive me if I dont know all the duck lingo. get back to me when you can

It would really help if you had a picture. Could be a lot of things. Maybe even a ruen/pekin cross?
