Good day. I am a new member and am obediently introducing myself as instructed. I live in North Carolina and my husband and I are newly semi-retired. We have always been gardeners and are looking to add chickens to our homesteading attempts now that we have bit more time.
My family kept chickens when I was growing up, but they were for the table, not for laying. I have discovered a breed called Speckled Sussex in my research and have high hopes of having three or four of them for laying. They sound like they make as good a pet as producer and I think that would be grand. Finding them is my current quest!
I am sure I will be reading a lot of your past threads and suggestions. Thank you for your time then and now!
