Our leghorn Leafy has a scab at the base of her comb. We are not sure where it came from and can’t tell if it is actually affecting her.

Leafy and Poofy are our only 2 chickens hatchmates age 5 months old.

Could be from fighting as they tend to challenge each other. What should we do?

Thank you!!

It could be from fighting, or even from her sticking her head somewhere and rubbing or catching the comb. What type of feeders and fencing are you using?

Your girls are sexually maturing so that's probably why you are seeing some bickering. It should work itself out eventually and your girls should calm down.

Giving them plenty of room to move around with help prevent aggression. If they are in a smaller set up you may want to enlarge their area.
