Having experienced a mite infestation compliments of a visiting bush turkey, I agree with the general consensus that it was most likely lice or mites.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

So I am reading this and I have what may be scabbies. It is intense itching and burning. Will be talking to a dermatologist soon but I am a little relieved that my chickens didnt give me this :/ although i have read other ppls post that chickens can give you mites causing severe itching. Well I dont know what I have but hoping it wasnt my cute chicks! :(
