I have two speckled sussex that just started laying a few days ago. I noticed that one was lethargic, She just stands and retracts her neck and closes her eyes and wasn't eating much. I thought she was egg bound so I have been soaking her in epsom baths. But I kept noticing that her right side of her neck was puffed out. more than the left. Checked for mites and sour crop and saw nothing. however, I looked under her feathers where the bulge was, and see what look like black scabs, and those are making the feathers stand out. She is eating more and a bit more active, but no idea what this might be.

Unfortunately, after further examination, this was just the tip of the iceberg in a very large mass that is being biopsied now, but likely fatal :(
