Has anyone made thier own?
How did you do it?

Get the Whizbang books. Very clear directions, and they work great. I got the picker book and plan on making one this Winter.

Do a search in the meat bird section for Whizbang and you'll get some good information.

Thanks!
I saw the whizbang books in the hatchery cataloge and that is why I asked.

It all depends on what size you need, for how many you will butcher.
For scalding we use a turkey fryer for chickens, the go up to a garbage can for turkeys. but we only do maybe 30 chickens and maybe a dozens turkeys a year.
As far as a plucker we use one that I made attached to a drill. The same kind can be found in hunting stores for plucking wild birds for about $30 dollars.

Your cuttin' it close... it's almost February!

Yeah, I know. It's amazing how fast time goes. I won't be processing my first batch until mid April, so I have a little time yet.
