Scale legs on my hen

Soak her legs in a warm bath of dawn soap for 5 minutes, rinse well. Then, spray some peroxide under any lifting scales to get out mite feces that is sticking to the skin. Dry the legs with a paper towels. Apply a good slathering of Vitamin A & D ointment. This is the same ointment, they use on baby's bottom for diaper rash. It is petrolatum based, and will smother any surviving mites, and moisturize the skin. too.

You will have to do this leg spa treatment once a week for about three weeks.

I also have an all natural leg spray recipe, that works great. It's also easy to spray the chicken's legs as they walk by. Let me know if you'd like it.

God Bless! :)

Thank you for getting back to me on this it is actually just one leg I will have to take a couple of pictures for for you to look at. It's actually not that bad but I don't wanted it to get there either. It's more like dry scaly skin.

I can't really see up close but the scales dont look lifted or injured that i can see. My hens legs look crusty but i feel thats normal. If the scales lift up it would be definite sign of scaly legmites. You can Google images of chickens with it. They seem more puffy in my opinion. You could always oil their legs if you are super worried. I dont think it will bother them if they dont have it.

Oiling the legs when in doubt is a reasonable approach. Agreed, if you do a google search for pics of scaly leg mite infestations, you'll see some good pics that will help you id if you have this issue or not.
I appreciate your help and I will try oriole in her legs I'm sure that will help and go from there thank you both once again.
