Scaly leg mites or lack of improvement

So i had to do some serious leg mite treatments this time last year, it had been an on going issue from before we moved. My 1 year old hens that we got after moving and everyone younger have no indication of leg mites. This hen in particular wasn't one of the worst effected though she was pretty rough last year. I have a few that still have ugly legs and I know in many cases the scales never go back to normal. But this hen seems to have really dry scales. I was thinking it might be time to at least do a vaseline treatment on her and a few of the older girls maybe just as a preventative. I'll probably do it regardless.

Does this look like scaly leg mites to you or just prior damage from scaly leg mites.

It's hard to tell, but I would say yes it could be SLM or damage from the previous infestation.
Either way, it won't hurt her to wash the legs, dry and apply Vaseline, A+D ointment, Nu Stock Cream or an oil of your choice (coconut, castor, etc.) once a week.

I'll try to get better pictures tonightants out vaseline on her legs and a few others. But how much i can get done tonight will directly depend on how quickly it cools off and if the smoke starts to clear. Its awful out right now and I needed to seperate some cockerels too.

I think the main issues was thier run at the prior house was where all the water would run when it rained. So it stayed wet for a long time. And of course since chickens seem to pack the soil it basically ended up pooling the water in their run. To the point I was constantly adding rocks and dirt to reduce the water. We had such an issue with leg mites and worms, but managed to avoid all other mites and lice. We thought we had it controlled before we moved but just after moving i had 1 start limping, she flared up fast. We when rounds trying almost everything short of gasoline before things started to improve. I hate scaly leg mites.

But i do think at least treating those with prior damage would be helpful four the whole flock.

Yes I think I agree. I did get a better look tonight and they do just look really really dry. But in the moment I was more worried about sorting cockerels and clipping wings then checking legs. My cuckoo maran has come of age and my lavender got a little mad at him today. I think there are 13 total not including the lavender though only 4 others are close to mature, though we sorted 10 left the 2 with mama even though they are 8 weeks now. And 1 in the brooder becuase the are only 2 there anyways. It's been a long evening is 9:30 and its still 95°out.

Definitely will get vaseline one her and a few others tomorrow, or maybe here in a little bit once i cool off.
