Hello,

One of my chickens has scaly leg mites. This weekend, we cleaned out the coop and run and sprayed everything down with elector psp. We also sprayed the chickens and their legs. We sprinkled lime in the coop and run.

How long does it take for the scales on a chicken's legs to return to normal?

Thanks!

It really depends on the severity of the infestation and you may need to reapply more than once or twice. If you make it a habit to dress their legs once in a while with Vaseline it helps keep the scales in good condition in general. I do this when I check everyone over for mites/lice/etc. This is easily done at night and as simple as taking them off the roost. A headlamp is helpful, so is a full moon.

Hi, Did the Elector PSP work well for you? I am looking for an effective treatment for my hens. Thanks.

I checked the coop last night and didn't see any mites. I couldn't check the chickens unfortunately because they were not within arm's reach but I will try tonight. I think it's going to take a while for the chicken with the scaly leg mites to start to look better/more normal.
