Scaly leg mites??

Hi all, I noticed that our adult chickens have slightly raised scales on their feet? Is this SLM? If so, I heard it can stay behind in their coop and infect them again. How do I disinfect the entire coop?

OP. Maybe do a search here on SLM and look at some afflicted legs for comparison.

I can see some early raised scales. About all I would do is apply some vaseline or other oil maybe twice a week and rub it in. Make sure they have a place to dust bathe daily.

I did, and it looks like some of mine have slightly raised scales. I might just be paranoid but I just want to be safe

@Eggcessive sees some raised scales, so do what she says. There is a reason she is an Educator, you can trust her!

We deal with a lot of SLM due to having free-ranging silkies (feathered feet are more prone to them).

Those look good by comparison, but I'd do what @Eggcessive said too if I thought those were SLM.

They have a dust bath, I will put some coconut oil on. Thank you for the advice!
