Scaly Leg Mites?

I think it looks like the early stages of scaly leg mites just because of the raised scales. Washing the legs and feet once a week in dish soap and warm water, dry them, and applying your favorite oil (vaseline, vegetable oil, castor oil, Pam spray) and massage it into the scales.

Yes that is scaly leg mites.

I dip in mineral oil (veg oil is OK) daily at first (both legs), then progress to every other day and do that for at least 2 weeks to smother the mites - it needs to be for that long due to the life cycle of the mites. Dust the coop or spray it also, and I like to dust or spray the birds as well (all with permethrin dust or liquid that has been diluted).

But the scales should go back down eventually. It can cause amputations if left untreated and it gets bad so it is vital to treat.
