I treated 5 weeks ago with ivermectin drops and then re-dosed with the drops in 10 days. The affected birds still have raised scales and now the others, who were also treated, look like their scales are raising, too. I got some spray (nustock but the TSC brand?) that I can use (actually, I plan to use it if I have to do ivermectin drops again). My head says to retreat everyone but I've read posts saying you can't tell the new scales are coming in for quite some time. How long should I wait before retreating? Also, do I need to do more for the coop? At the time of the first treatment, I had a new coop and plucked a bird from the old roost, treated with ivermectin, then put the bird into the brand new coop (nothing had been in there prior and it has all new bedding, etc). I then removed the old coop from the area. Do I really need to empty out all that bedding and start over or can I just sevin dust it all real good? I already spray permethrin on the roosts/poop shelf/ladder every week or so as part of my routine.
To recap--all birds were treated with ivermectin drops and re-dosed at the 10 day mark and put into a new coop with all new bedding. Should I treat again for scaly leg mites or wait and see if it improves?

I would wait on giving more, you can do more damage over medicating and treating. Do I huge clean out and spray down the coop, run, nesting boxes and roost. Then treat the scaly legs with vegetable oil and repeat as often as you can to get everything that hatches out. Give them some electrolytes to bounce back.

Thanks. Several are molting and I don't want to mess up the feathers by doing anything unnecessary. My roo definitely is molting and there are so many black feathers (he's not black, 3 hens are) but I'm only sure of one hen that's actually lost feathers. I should know in a day or so who's losing them, tho, since the blast of feathers was overnight last night and it was dark when I left for work. Had enough time to put rooster booster in the water and feather fixer in the feeders. They get snacks during the day, from DH, but he's a cookie person and thinks everyone/thing should eat more cookies. (So, not so sure he's not considering them 'snack hungry, little debbie's got a snack for you...' which is what they do not need, especially now).
