So i’ve been dealing with scaly leg mites for the past week, i’ve done vaseline treatments on everybody 3 times including scrubbing it in with a toothbrush and i’ve used poultry mite spray on the legs and perches and the coop, my coop floor is lined with diatomaceous earth along with the nesting boxes and i’ve fully scraped and cleaned it out twice now in four days, is it safe to say I can be done with all the treating? i’m very confident they’re gone out of the coop as I was very ocd about cleaning EVERYTHING and every corner and crack, here’s my ameruacanas legs after all these treatments, I wish I would’ve taken a before picture to show just how bad they were (got her from a neglect situation) she is clearly feeling so much better as she moves around much better and is actually friendly with me now. She is also 6 years old. A lot of her badly raised scales have already fallen off

You are doing a great job!
I’d keep up with the Vaseline treatment a little while longer and do one more thing...

I hope someone else with more experience with SLM than me comes along and gives their opinion about what I’m going to say next...

PLEASE! Get rid of the log you’re using for a perch or roost!

Unless you submerge that thing in a vat of pesticide for about ....forever, I don’t think you can rid it of being the best hiding place ever, for mites.

I coated the whole thing in the perch and hen mite and lice exterminator, and also lathered the tops in vaseline but I was also wondering if I should just take them down and put up new ones.... I will do that tomorrow, my only reason for wanting to be done with the treatment is these girls are SO flighty and the more black one has been so stressed everytime I catch her to treat her, but I just say to myself it’s going to help her in the long run even if she’s stressed for now. Thanks for your reply!

Sounds like you are doing a good job.
I would continue to apply the vaseline to the legs once a week. You want the scales and legs to heal.
