Scared Baby Chicks! How to Socialize Chicks Properly?

Thanks for all the great tips! I tried the hard boild egg last night and litteraly had the chicks eatting out of my hand! All of the chicks went crazy over it, and all were content with me holding them and eatting out of mine and my husband's hand. Well I should say all, excpet our Silkie. She is definately the most skiddish and will jump out of our hands trying to fly away when we pick her up. Not sure if this is more common with Silkies?? Here is a pic of me and Little Miss Daisy

I've heard Silkie's aren't usually very skittish (nor do they seem to sense predators). It could be more when they are older and their sight is blocked by their feathers? I have an order of silkies, EE and frizzles coming next week in hopes that we can get a 'social' silkie at least. I totally agree with the earlier statement that if you have a skittish chick the others seem to pick up on it. When we introduced the younger group in with the 2 older girls we had left (red sex-links that are pretty skittish but for very good reason, our dog has killed 6 of them) they have gotten almost impossible to catch unless cornered and you are quick. I'm thinking about pulling out my 'favorites' from the new group and brooding them by themselves to give them more attention and maybe even having a separate coop/run for them. We mainly got our chickens for eggs but I would really like to have a few that are pet like.
