Right when my chickens were old enough to run they did . Since then i have to find away to call them like perhaps here chickies, or the rattleing of a can. with the reward of cracked corn or small amounts of bread. if you do this close to every time u either let your chickens out or just go out to see them the chickens will warm u to u in no time! i have six barred rocks of my own and there my friendliest chickens!

i hope i could help!

FOOD! Get something yummy, like mealworms or greens. Use a sound, call or whistle every time you offer the treats so they can associate that with something good. You can try at first just leaving it out somewhere visible while calling them and then eventually work to them coming to you. Eventually they may eat right from your hand, but be patient. I whistle then call out here chick chick chick and my girls come running, but it took a bit. Good luck.

Yep, food is the best way to get them to come running "to" you instead of "away" from you!!!

Every time my chickens see me walk outside with a red coffee can, they know they're gonna get something and they all gather around me and follow me back to the run! :D (My big red coffee can is my "scraps" of the day from the kitchen.)

Heck, if they even see me walking back there with nothing, they still follow me!

I just sat in the brooder/coop as often as i could, with a book or just sittting. They're 17wks today, and most of them will come up to me. Food, i agree, will help.

Yes, I just call, 'chick, chick, chickie,' and all 4 come a runnin'! I give them treats like bread crusts, (saved from grandson's lunch!), veggies and fruits cut into small pieces or maybe some scrambled egg pieces or a small bowl of greek yogurt with oatmeal! Oh, yes...one treat they LOVE is just uncooked oatmeal tossed on the lawn! I know, I have spoiled my chicks...but it's alot of fun to watch them....just can't wait for the eggs!!! lol! ~Beulah
