My little granddaughter, Lily, went through over 2 years of daily chemo - lots of spinal chemo and IV chemo in her battle against leukemia. She finished treatment in February 2011 and has been doing so well. She's 11 years old now. At her last checkup, her blood counts were low - and so the doctor wanted her to return in one month - rather than wait for her regular appointment in two months. However, this past week she's been complaining of back pain. Back pain was the major symptom she had when she was first diagnosed in 2008. So the oncologist said she needed to get her blood checked TODAY. My daughter has gone to pick Lily up from school and take her for the blood check.

I am so scared that she is relapsing. The protocol for relapsed leukemia is so much harder than the initial protocol. She has already gone through so much - and lost a year and a half of school. I know that no matter what happens, we will get through it. I am just heartbroken that she may be facing this awful beast again - and I'm praying so hard that there is some other explanation for the low blood counts and back pain. We would appreciate the prayers of anyone who is so inclined. I will update the thread when we get the CBC results. Thanks.

Dear Carol:

Don't cross the river before you get to it!... it is normal to panic under these circumstances... but know something as a matter of fact... God loves your grandaughter much, much more than you do... and you obviously adore her...

He has promised to take care of us each day of our lives, and He will NO MATTER THE EVENTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES...

Let's pray together:

Dear Holly Lord... we acknowledge you as our only source of peace and good things. At this moment we need your favor in making Lily stand safe and healthy. You created her, Your know her, You love her. Please let us see one more time Your hand moving in her favor.

Take away all fear from Carol's heart and help Carol understand in her spirit that once You have taken matters into Your hands, everything will always be for good.

All good news we get regarding this will just make us testify one more time of your Grace and Mercy towards your children.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Carol: rest in His arms. You are in my prayers.

Happy Camper - thank you so much for that - you'll never know how much that meant to me!

We heard back from the blood test - and it's good news! Lily's blood counts are better than they were two weeks ago. Not in the normal range - but significantly better than before. They are sending her to get an x-ray. Some of the chemos she took cause bone death - and they want to check her back to see if there are any fractures as a result of that. That would explain the back pain.T

Thanks again for the prayers.

@ happy camper - Amen!

@ Carol - Thank you Jesus for the good news! I will pray for your sweet grandbaby as well. Happy Camper said everything I wanted to say, but I think it bears repeating that God loves her more than humanly possible, and He will take care of her no matter what.

The Lord bless you and keep you both!

Great news!!! Just remember we all will go through tough times here on Earth (that's in the Bible) and remembering what the Lord has done in the past will strenghten us and get us through... Praise the Lord!!!!

Good news!
