Looked outside just awhile ago and saw my neighbor's cat about 2 feet from my chicken run, belly down and creeping. Although it would be impossible for the cat to get into the run or coop (completely enclosed in hardware cloth), I did want to discourage that behavior just because I don't want it upsetting my girls.

So I went out and walked almost right up to the cat and it just ignored me. When I hissed and clapped my hands it took off running though, and fell into the pool (empty now, I'm going to fill it in). I kept up the noise as it frantically tried to jump out of the pool, it finally dug it's claws into the concrete surround and pulled itself out. It hightailed it out of the yard, under the privacy fence. Hopefully it won't be back for awhile. Now if I could just get it to quit crapping in my front yard..............

    lol

One stern peck from a hen to the cat's face will get the cat to stop stalking the girls. The ferals run away when hens walk toward them. lol
