i discovered my chicken laid down 9 eggs, i’m not sure if i should just leave them or move them inside? it’s her first time putting down eggs :D it gets pretty cold outside and she lays 1 a day i have noticed she goes under the shed and lays them there, i’m scared to leave them out there because of the weather and predators, we lock her up at night because there’s dogs outside, what do i do? i wanted to move them to her coop inside but i’m not sure i should. i really want them to hatch because the kids belong to a rooster who recently died, ahh help! :barnie

How cold can it get outside? I haven't done a lot of research on this but I thought if the eggs were around 50F and sat for a couple days before the hen sits on them. If the eggs sit too long (and I am not sure what too long is), the eggs won't hatch.
Is she broody and wanting to sit on the eggs? If she isn't already broody she won't sit on them to hatch them.

Best bet would be to just incubate thrn5yourself if you're really wanting then to hatch. I have had birds amass a giant nest (20ish) and sit for a few days before deciding they were bored and leaving

it changes everyday, it can be 45 one da next day it’ll be 70, 60, 65, 49 etc. she just lays the eggs, then leaves and moves on with her day.

i have the incubator running right now, i’m probably going to put them in later tonight, i really want these babies to hatch :fl

she laid one today, it’s 70 out tonight so i decided to leave that one out so she can go back to it tomorrow, if she gets broody, i saved 3 eggs out of the 9 she put down, i can sneak them in under her and keep the others incubated. she’s a good chicken and she’s friendly since i had them and hatched them out of incubators, she might adopt them if they hatch :)

You havent told her breed
Some breeds are more likely to go broody than other breeds
Has she started showing pre broody behaviors
Growling puffing up and clucking ??

she has grown puffy, and started clucking, i have incubated 7 eggs, i’m not sure they’ll hatch because they’ve been out in the hot & cold weather but i’m crossing my fingers, i think she’s laid 11 eggs, 12 with today, she just went under the shed to lay one more, her name is chow mein :)
