I have a frizzle bantom with a poopy bloody distended anus. She has also lost alot of feathers lately. I cleaned her, put on some salve and put her in a dark quite spot.
I'm really worried about her! Any ideas.
I think she is going to a vet tomorrow.

Blood in the poo or vent area is a sign of coccidiosis.

Sulmet, added to the drinking water will cure the problem.

Going to the vet is a good idea.

Hope everything works out well for you.

I choose to feed the newbies medicated chick starter to avoid the problems that can arrise from other ways of starting off the flock.

Moist cool conditions are a good receipe for cocci to develop.
Dry bedding and housing is a good thing.

By distended could you mean a prolapsed rectum? If so you will need to separate her from any other birds as they will peck at it. I have a cat that I was able to get her through this by gently pushing it back in (using rubber gloves and vaseline). I'm not sure if that would work with a chicken though.

If it's her vent then you can push it back in and use sugar or preparation H to keep it in...Also keeping her in the dark will stop her laying, if she's old enough.
Are her poops bloody? If not, then she probably doesn't have cocci.

Thanks for your responses. She is a year old. Her poop isn't bloody, it's more the sensitive area around her anus. She is isolated and in the dark. I can't find a vet who knows chickens around here!?

Sounds more like a prolapse.

Try putting it back in then put some Preparation H on it...
