Scary Morning

I have 2 mini's & a dwarf at home, & 3 cutters at work, & we all

each other,...... well, my dwarf only loves me & DW, not the mini's.

I am defineately glad it was not serious. I also should have probably done something differently with this horse because he has already bitten his owner twice really hard and almost kicked early this year. All I was trying to this morning was move him out of my space so I could finish cleaning his paddock and then he spun around and kicked. I am glad for my sake that I thought about putting my arm up to shield his from my head. Becuase it was a close call.

See even after this happened today I still love the horses maybe not this one particularly but all the other ones. Because at the moment we have 12 horses on property with room for 2 more.

They just scare the crud outta me... too darn big.
I do think that they are beautiful creatures though...

Ohh I know that hurt! I have a QH and she just had a foal. Her foal tries everything to get away! She kicks and nibbles on me. I make sure I whip her butt every time she acts up! She likes to rear up too. You really have to be the boss of horses or they will push your buttons and take advantage of you. They are SO dangerous! You know what helped me is reading a book about horse behavior and knowing the signs before anything serious happens.

Ugh... I've been kicked in the shin, thrown, kicked in the hip... that all hurt but none of them were hard enough to do serious harm. I hope you're ok! I LOVE horses, and I don't know if they could do anything that would change that besides maybe kill me

But it is VERY important to Be VERY careful around them!

Many years ago a horse trainer I knew was blanketing a show horse. The most broke, calm, trained horse there is. When the blanket was sliped over it's head, it simply raise it's head up and caught the trainer under the chin. Nearly broke every bone in her face.

It was then that in my fool young head that I learned that horses can hurt you bad even if they are being good. But silly me, I rode and trained horses for many years after that without anything other than getting a bad back

But, I quit after the last round of horses I got that kicked, bit, bucked, flipped over backwards, and charged me. No health insurance was a great motivation for a career change. Maybe someday I'll get my own horse again. If i don't have to starve my family to keep one.

Ah don't hate all horses because of a few who have owners who let them get away with things. I have 4 horses, two Percheron mares and two Quarter Horses. My QH mare Lucy is the most gentle creature there is, gently takes treats, loves to be brushed, pampered and gives rides to my 2 and a half year old grand daughter Lily.

My older Percheron mare Smoke is so willing to give pony rides, we do a lot of public events with her. She is calm, we have had up to 3 kids on her back before and while her size may be startling to most, she is 6ft at the shoulder, she too is very patient and kind. This mare has put me in ribbons, many of them blue ribbons, and has given me the confidence to show against people who said we couldn't do it. We did it and last year we showed everyone what a grand mare she is.

Trixie is as calm and patient as Smoke is bold and willing. They are my team and I invite you to come out and go for a ride in our wagon with me! You will fall in love with their patient manner.

And see, they do love too:
