schedule for feeding meat chickens?

At what age do you switch meat birds from chick starter to grower/finisher? I will be feeding dumor or purina from TSC. I get my meat birds in 2 days and want to know how much feed I need to get right away.

Also, do you make feed available to them around the clock or do you give them a schedule? I have heard of some people feeding them 12 hrs on and then giving them just water for 12 hrs. What do you think is best?

The first 5 days of life you feed them 24/7 after that 12 hrs of food, 12 without. I know from experience.. I had cornish rock babies for the first time. I had them from day one and fed them constantly. At about 2 and a half weeks 3 dropped dead... I looked it up on here and after I did the feed, no feed rotation the remaining 5 were fine. They just over eat themselves to death. They were monsters @ 10 wks!!
