Does anyone have or know any Schnauzer/Poodle mix dogs? We have been offered a 8 week old puppy and we are seriously debating on adopting her, I have never owned a Schnauzer but I grew up with Poodles and ADORE them! I thought I would ask you all about them and see your thoughts on them as family pet! I am not into "designer breeds" hence why I dont use the name Schnoodle lol

I've known some schnauzers - they can be pretty hyper and nippy, but that could be the fault of the owners. I would think the poodle part would make it a great pet.

Of both breeds there are good ones and bad ones.
How are the parents?

I would give in and get a pup though. lol

Hopefully they look more poodlish.

I've had two. Both exceptional. Very smart, very loyal Very Clean In The House. Both very small - one was about 11lbs - Shelby - He was my first he's been gone for years but, not forgotten. The other is Smidgen - Midgie weighs in @ 6lbs. She is an awesome little creature - I love her dearly.

My girlfriend has a schnoodle named Pebbles. She is the cutest sweetes thing.. if she ever has puppies, I am first on the list for one. But others have posted there are good and bad in every breed. Make sure this particular puppy has the personality you want.

we have a minischnauzer and he is a sweet heart and a mamma's boy. along with the other two big male dogs we have. we also have a female schnauzer. she is good with my three little girls but mouthy. she thinks she is the queen here and knows she isn't except where the boys are concerned.

We have a schnauzer and absolutely adore the breed. A little mouthy at times but if you don't mind barking there aren't many other faults. She's incredibly loyal, extremely intelligent, eager to please and is the perfect "stick with you" kind of dog. She goes everywhere with me.

My best friend's dog when I was growing up was a fat grey schnoodle named Buffy. She was a MARVELLOUS dog, put up with all sorts of things like our making a little harness and cart for her to pull

Mind you this was 35-40 years ago and only one data point, but, still.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

Thanks you all for the input, the owner told me that they took in the whole litter, placed them all and kept this one as she was supposed to be getting married in 2 weeks (She already has a dog, and her lease only allows one) well she had planned on moving in with her fiance (would be hubby) but the wedding is now off, the land lord wont budge so the puppy must find a home! She has NO shots but has been dewormed, I already called and made a Vet appt (quickest is Tuesday afternoon)

I cant wait to see her tomorrow, I still havent told DH yet, I talked it over with my Mom today (she will be 70 this year) and she said "Why bother telling him now and having to listen to him gripe tonight and tomorrow, tell him right before she gets here" lol lol lol I had to laugh!

The girls have been begging for a Poodle, and I dont have the cash laying around for a purebred dog right now, and nearly every rescue I have contacted wont adopt to us as Emma is 4, even though we are a foster home for the SPCA and we own a Chihuahua, I understand rescues being careful, but I think making a blanket statement of they wont adopt to a home that has ANY children under 12 is sad! I mean not all kids are the same! They need to make it a case by case basis in my humble opinion lol

I will update with photos and stories of how all goes if DH doesnt kill me!
